FROM THE DEAN:
‘You are the music while the music lasts.’ - T.S. Eliot
I found this quote from T.S. Eliot while working to write my final article for the newsletter this month, and I like the double meaning I found within it. As a musician, you can relate to what he implies here, while creating music you are the music. And with that then the tempo, use of expression, registration, attack, phrasing and rests will convey the message and emotion you want to share with the audience. An important point to always remember.
And, like all things, it will end. Which I here relate to the end of my term as chapter dean. It has been my honor and privilege to serve with you as Chapter Dean for this program year that will soon end. This chapter has so many great members! It is your commitment and dedication to the chapter that serves us so well and has made my term as Dean so enjoyable. Please continue to stay engaged with the chapter as we continue with chapter business and become even busier planning and preparing for the National AGO Convention in 2018.

The Concert Gift Series uses donations to underwrite the concerts presented by the chapter, often donated by the members. Since we have been using ONCARD the donations to the Concert Gift Series are down. Please again remember to donate to this fund.
There are many ways you can contribute to this fund. All of the funds donated through ONCARD come to the chapter.
~ Log into ONCARD and make a donation from the Make a Contribution link
~ While renewing your membership using ONCARD make a contribution then
~ Write a check to GKCAGO and give to our treasurer, Nara Newcomer

And we offer many thanks to those that have continued to donate to the Concert Gift Series.
Thank you for your generosity.
It is late Spring and the ONCARD system is sending out renewal notices for most of our members to go online or call the national office in New York to renew their AGO membership. You can call 212-870-2310 and they will help you over the phone to pay your dues, or you can go online at:
https://www.agohq.org/oncard-login/ and follow the instructions there to pay with a credit card. Please follow through to the bottom of the form and look for questions about volunteering for our chapter. With the National Convention coming to Kansas City in 2018 I ask that you consider ways listed that you might help with the Convention. Also, please consider donating to the Concert Series and also to help with costs of hosting the Convention.
Most of our members are on the July 1 through June 30 time frame. I am happy to report that we have people already renewing! Please don't be late with your renewal. Do it now, while you are thinking about it!! You don't want your Registrar to "nag" you, do you?
Thank you for being a member of our chapter!

With many thanks to the members who shared their talents at the May monthly program: Boyd Ahrens, Claudette Schiratti, Reggie Watkins, Paul Erickson, Pam Robison, Chloë Stodt and Marcy Gaston. And to Justin McCoy for hosting and preparing for us at his church.
And it is a definite testament to the outreach from the chapter that Marcy is a member that joined during the January Jubilee hosted by the chapter in 2014 and has studied organ with Paul Erickson. Great Job to all!
The newsletter for the GKCAGO chapter, The Bombarde, is published August – June. There is no edition published during the month of July. Members can expect to receive the next edition of the newsletter on August 1, 2017.
The French Festival marks a milestone of five years with the presentation of this year’s French Festival. It will take place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Sunday, August 27th from 2 pm instead 1 pm and conclude at 5 pm. The reason for this change is that the Cathedral’s last morning service concludes around 12:15 which leaves precious little time for set up for the event.
The festival relies on volunteers from our chapter and the Cathedral to fill volunteer roles for the event. Here is a link (Dropbox) to download and complete the MSWORD document.
Please email me if you have difficulty accessing the file at email@example.com
I am grateful for our collaboration with this cosponsored event to make it a continued success.
At a wedding ceremony, the pastor asked 'if anyone had anything to say concerning the union of the bride and groom. It was their time to stand up and speak, or forever hold their peace'.
The moment of utter silence was broken by a young beautiful woman carrying a child. She stood up and started walking slowly towards the pastor.
Everything quickly turned to chaos. The bride threw the bouquet and burst out crying. Then slowly the groom's mother fainted. The Best men started giving each other looks and wondering how best to help save the situation.
The pastor asked the woman, "Can you tell us why you came forward? What do you have to say?"
There was absolute silence in the church. The woman replied, "We can't hear at the back."
