FROM THE DEAN:
May brings us a unique month of endings, beginnings and longstanding
The final program of the season will be our members' recital at Country Club Christian. The theme, “Music of the UK,” will provide us an opportunity to engage in the rich history of this nation’s music to compliment the annual offerings provided by the Bachathon and the French Festival. Please plan on coming to hear our members perform works by Stanley, Handel, Finzi, Flecther, Howells, Bridge, Bennett and Langton.
At this meeting we also will be officially installing our new officers.

Please thank all the members and performers for the time and effort they put in to sustain this event. Hope to see you at these programs during this wonderful unique month!

It is time to renew your membership for 2016-2017. In 2014, the National AGO instituted ONCARD (Online National Collection and Remittal of Dues). The National office is now responsible for invoicing and collecting dues from all members. The Chapter portion of dues plus any Chapter-specific funds (e.g., GKCAGO Concert Series donations) collected during dues renewal are returned to the Chapter.
The GKCAGO membership year runs on a fiscal calendar of July 1 – June 30. All current members are encouraged to renew their membership beginning May 1 each year. The GKCAGO RENEWAL DEADLINE is AUGUST 15 to assure inclusion in the printed Chapter Directory, and maintain the July 1 – June 30 membership year.
New members may join at any time and will have a full one year membership beginning with the date they join. These “rolling” renewal dates are listed below these members’ entries in our Chapter Directory. Membership Forms and related details are available from the Registrar.

The Orfeo Piano Trio will perform works by Beethoven, Dvorak, and Haydn as the next installment of the Great Spaces Music and Arts series. The Orfeo Piano Trio was formed in 2012 in Wichita, Kansas where they began their career as the official Piano Trio of the Wichita State University College of Fine Arts, School of Music. The three members of the Orfeo Trio are active performers with considerable chamber music experience. Cellist Leonid Shukaev is a founding member of the St. Petersburg String Quartet, formerly the Quartet-in-Residence at Wichita State University, whose rise to fame included a Grammy nomination, "Best Record" honors in both Stereo Review and Gramophone, an opening night performance at Mostly Mozart at Lincoln Center, a five-year residency at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and hundreds of concerts on many of North America, Europe and Asia's most prestigious series and festivals.
Violinist Evgeny Zvonnikov joined the St. Petersburg String Quartet in 2010 and was recently named associate concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. Pianist Julie Bees has performed chamber music throughout her career, including performances with the Vermeer Quartet and the St. Petersburg String Quartet, as well as with vocalists and various instrumental ensembles. Internationally, the Orfeo Trio has performed in Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and China.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased online at www.greatspaces.org or at the door. Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Ave, Topeka, KS 66603.

Friday, June 3rd, 7:00pm
Come see a classical concert featuring our Clay County award winning alumni, Dennis Bergin. On June 3, Dennis joins the Community Chamber Orchestra as organ soloist in works by Handel, J.S. Bach, and Albinoni, followed by virtuoso solo organ selections by J.S. Bach and Widor. Dennis graduated from Clay Center High School in 1972, holds degrees in organ performance from Wichita State University, and currently lives and works in the St. Louis area. He has won numerous organ competitions and awards, and played on NPR’s “Pipedreams.”
We will be playing one work with Dennis that he performed with the St. Louis Symphony. The Orchestra consists of youth and adults who play without a conductor in true chamber style. You can visit with the soloist and musicians after the performance, and get Dennis' autograph too! We hope to see you on Friday night, June 3, at 7:00 pm at the Clay Center Methodist Church, 921 5th St, Clay Center, KS 67432.
