FROM THE DEAN:
What a spectacular performance we heard on April 20th from Scott Dettra on the magnificent Casavant Frères Opus 3700 (1993)! Our deepest thanks are extended to the Community of Christ Dome and Spire Fine Arts Series for their co-sponsorship of this concert. The power of such collaboration to lift and to change hearts cannot be underestimated!
~ ~ ~
And here comes a “thank you” (received April 3rd) to our Chapter from Wayne Smith, piano teacher of fourteen-year-old Kathryn Kurtz, the recipient of our GKCAGO scholarship to the Wichita Pipe Organ Encounter
in June:
Chloe,
Kathryn Kurtz is thrilled to receive the scholarship from KCAGO for the POE in Wichita this June.
I have now given her 3 organ lessons (also a scholarship from me). She's practicing organ every day for at least an hour. She loves it and is catching on fast. St. Paul's Episcopal Church (Rector Mark McGuire) has given her permission to practice there. The church is within walking distance of Kathryn's home. Her new Organ Master Shoes are ordered and in the mail. Thanks so much to AGO for making this scholarship available. I know she will do us proud!
O. Wayne Smith, DMA
Certainly no one can say that GKCAGO is not doing its part this year to support and promote
new organists!

Dear Colleagues,
I am very excited about the variety of talent and music to be performed at the 3rd annual French Organ Music Festival taking place on August 23, 2015. To date I can report we are in need of one more performer to complete the performance schedule.
Please contact me at mpearson@kcgolddome.org to sign up. We are especially seeking early French music repertoire. Performers may share time slots or may perform the entire time slot by themselves.
