FROM THE DEAN:
What an exciting program crammed with variety was presented by Ahreum Han for our KCAGO September 16th concert at William Jewell College! The balcony was full and there was a sizable crowd downstairs as well. Ms. Han definitely met all of our expectations as she presented a sparkling performance. Thanks to both William Jewell College (my alma mater) for providing shuttle service from Liberty Christian to campus and to Ann Marie Rigler for making those arrangements for our convenience. By the way, did you see the nice write-up and Ms. Han’s picture in the Kansas City Star the day before the program?
Several exciting organ programs are on tap at the Kauffman Center this Fall. Once again, it is critical that we are present to support these organ events! If our membership is lax in attending, the future number of organ concerts will dwindle. We are the major support group for organ events. You’all come!
Mary Bronaugh Davis, Dean
Our October 21st Choral and Brass program will be fabulous also because Anthony Maglione, renowned choral director of William Jewell College is involved. Under his direction our Schola Cantorum comes alive! This collaborative concert will feature works for choir, organ, and brass including music of Gabrieli, Schutz, Tavener, Tippett, and a world premiere of “The Mystic Trumpeter” by Anthony Maglione. The guest trumpeter, Randolph Lee, has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues. Currently a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and a recording artist, he can be heard on Deutsche Grammophon, Tantara Records, TV shows, commercials, video games, and movies. This is the ideal program to invite choral musicians as well as instrumentalist and organists to attend. this KCAGO concert. Please consider bringing someone with you to our October KCAGO concert and perhaps dinner as well.
Please join us at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main, Kansas City, MO, at 6:00 for fellowship, 6:15 for dinner, and 7:30 for the concert.

This First Annual French Organ Music Festival was a huge success! The scheduled time had to be moved back from 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. to accommodate all who wanted to perform. The festival included technology elements of a video feed from the balcony as well as PowerPoint notes about the composers and performers. An excellent attendance was maintained throughout the afternoon. Norm Kinnaugh estimated about 1,600 throughout the four hours. Programs ran out and many more had to be photocopied. Several people stayed the entire time. The sequence of performers proceeded without a glitch, and the French Café was in the ideal location to grab a bite and still not miss a performance. Plans are already underway for the Second French Music Festival to be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Many accolades to Dr. Mario Pearson for planning this occasion. It is a winner!
